When people from different nationalities want to live together, to get married or to terminate the marriage, they have to have information about a lot of things. As the states have different legislation, it is recommended that one should collect information prior to the steps to be undertaken with respect to the possible consequences afterwards.
For instance:
- A Bulgarian woman, married to a Swiss citizen comes back from Switzerland and wants to file an application for divorce. She refers to the International Social Services - Bulgaria for counseling as to where and how to do this.
- A Bulgarian court searches for information as to find out the content of a foreign legislation in terms of filed application for divorce between spouses who have their habitual residence in Germany. The court may refer to the International Social Service – Bulgaria in line with Art.43 of the Codex for International Private Law.
